Gaothusi receives Sari as send-off gift

As Miss World Botswana Anicia Gaothusi prepares to carry the nation’s flag to India for the 72nd Miss World competition from May 7 to May 31 which is the grand finale,
She was gifted a traditional sari which is an iconic symbol of Indian femininity and grace.
This special event was organised by the India High Commissioner, the Indian community, the Telugu Association in Gaborone.
A group of more than eight Indian women introduced Miss World Botswana to the rich tapestry of Indian heritage from the significance of the sari in various regions to the meaning behind the fabrics, colours and embroidery.
She was dressed in the attire and adorned with traditional accessories, embodying beauty of Indian women.
One of the women,Purnima Desaraju introduced the beauty queen to India’s diverse traditions including its colourful festivals,and family structures.
Miss world Botswana was also introduced to Telengana, the southern Indian state that will host the 72nd Miss World competition.
Known for its regal history, stunning architecture and rich cultural heritage, Telangana particularly its capital Hyderabad is poised to offer Gaothusi and other contestants a memorable experience rooted in tradition and modernity.
They further showcased some of India’s most breathtaking landmarks ranging from the serene backwaters of Kerala and the majestic Taj Mahal to the spiritual city of Varanasi and the Himalayan foothills of Himachal Pradesh.
The head of the Telugu Association Ventak Thotakura said they organised this to give Miss World Botswana a glimpse of the soul of the country she will soon explore.
He said the cultural exchange come as the beauty queen leaves for India this month, marking the final stretch of her preparation for the international pageant.
Speaking at the event, Miss World Botswana expressed gratitude to the Indian community for the gesture.
She thanked them for not only gifting her the sari, but also for introducing her to the rich world of Indian arts, culture, history and fashion.
She added that the experience deepened her excitement to visit India and represent Botswana on the world stage. ENDS
