Botswana’s cream de la cream of artistes is expected to showcase the rich country’s identity in musical performance billed for Royal Aria Stadium tomorrow. 

The event dubbed Chokoma Toro Music festival, will feature great talent in the likes of Han C, Charma Gal, Lioness Ratang, Juu Matere, Dr Vom and the man of the moment Chokoma. Chokoma, born Katlholo Hiri in Kalkfontein, alias Tsootsha in the Ghanzi district, has entered the showbiz industry with display of high energies captivating the hearts of many with his unique thrilling dance moves and most importantly his Shekgalari lyrics.

The musical showcase is aimed at celebrating the rich heritage that Botswana can offer to the world with a sound that identifies with Botswana and can be proud of. 

“This festival will showcase our afro culture music which is a fusion of our traditional signature and guitar sound. We want to introduce this to the world as our identity,” Chokoma said in an interview.

The 2024 Botswana Music Union (BOMU) Best Male award winner said it was time Botswana artistes curate their own events and showcased their capabilities without nternational artistes. He also said this festival was a celebration and appreciation of his success in the industry particularly his BOMU award.

Chokoma Toro Music showcase is expected to bring down the house with electrifying performances of yet another Kalahari musician Juu Matere who has also made his mark in the industry with his sensational Kalahari sound and dance moves. With Baxon, Kabelo ‘Skavenja’Tiro, Dj Gouveia, Dj Ngwazi, Motlha, Modric, the event will undoubtably be recorded in the entertainment books.

Other acts include Leb Gee, Swag Kids, VIP Obligato, Flex Khaba, Maatla Ephraim with MC Theo, T.H.A.B.O, BJB, MC Ramza and MC Mabarebare as hosts of the show. ENDS
