Fun day to strengthen family ties

02 May 2025

All roads lead to The Escapade By James Gardens in Boatle this weekend for the fourth edition of the annual Gamalete Family Fun Day.

Speaking during hectic preparations of the event this week, event organiser, Thabang Sebowe said they had lined up an exciting feature for this weekend’s edition.

“Apart from the usual family day activities, Saturday, which is the pinnacle of the event, has a host of family entertainment activities such as music, boat cruises, braai, jumping castle, family games and food for the whole family,” said Sebowe.

He said they had decided to add more flavour to the day’s events as a way of uniting families and promoting anti GBV initiatives. He said the event was conceptualised to bring the families together to have fun while strengthening their bonds.

They are also promoting the Balete culture. In the evening, the day will be spiced up with a strong line-up of artistes such as Vee Mampeezy, Juu Matere, Lioness Ratang, Slizer, Mingo Touch and Ancestral Rituals among others whilst a host of deejays will take to the decks such as FME DJ’s, Fatsheman, Melcado, Piink, DJ Finch, Tswak Vellas, DA Karli, DJ BAx, Tevab, DJ Tisco, Robotic Siza, Zuka Dash and Big Jay.

Sebowe said the event would also give upcoming artistes an opportunity to showcase their talent in a major event.

“Our aim is to also give local artistes an opportunity to perform along big names. We purposefully excluded international acts to give this upcoming local talent much needed exposure to show their potential,” Sebowe said.

He said the event organisers had extended a hand of sympathy to Thuto Boswa Rehabilitation Centre in Ramotswa by offering free tickets to some of its students, who are living with disabilities to accord them an opportunity to mingle with community members. ENDS
