Masimolole clarifies adult educators conditions of service
06 Feb 2014
Job effectiveness descriptions for adult educators have been developed and a draft competency based career path outlining their progression being processed to replace the current scheme of service.
The Assistant Minister of Education and Skills Development, Mr Patrick Masimolole told Parliament that there were 136 adult educators employed across the country.
Responding to a question from the Member of Parliament for Kgalagadi North, Mr Phillip Khwae on February 5, Mr Masimolole said adult educators were permanent and pensionable and their conditions of service were governed by the Public Service Act Number 30 of 2008.
He said these employees were remunerated on salary scales ranging from C4 up to E1 and their progression was outlined in their Scheme of Service which is DPSM Directive Number 19 of 1993.
MP Khwae had asked about the number of adult educators employed countrywide and the conditions of their employment and the scales at which they were remunerated. He had also wanted to know their line of progression and if none, what did the ministry intend to do to upgrade them in order to improve the quality of their service. ENDS
