No backup generator for Artesia clinic
06 Feb 2014
Parliament has been informed that due to financial constraints, the Ministry of Health has not been able to provide Artesia clinic with a backup generator.
The Minister of Health, Dr John Seakgosing said the plan was to have backup generators in all clinics with maternity, including Artesia, funds permitting. Responding to a parliamentary question on February 5, Dr Seakgosing said facilities had cadac lamps for use in case of power cuts.
The Member of Parliament for Kgatleng West, Mr Gilbert Mangole had asked the minister to state why Artesia had not been provided with backup generator given that the clinic had a maternity wing.
The minister was also to state whether he did not consider it necessary to provide the back-up generator as a matter of urgency. ENDS
