Okavango constituency has a total of 26 backyard gardens, says Assistant Minister for Presidential Affairs and Public Administration, Mr Gaotlhaetse Matlhabaphiri.

Answering a question in Parliament asked by MP for Okavango, Mr Bagalatia Arone, Mr Matlhabaphiri said out of the 26 backyard gardens, 18 were operational while four were awaiting water connection and four under construction.

He, however, said he would give the MP the names of the beneficiaries but would not disclose the names in Parliament to protect the beneficiaries’ dignity and consideration of ethical issues.

Mr Arone had asked the Minister for Presidential Affairs and Public Administration to state the number of backyard gardens in the Okavango constituency and the names of the beneficiaries and the level of operation of their projects. ENDS
