Churches critical partners in promoting peace

The United Congregation Church of Southern Africa (UCCSA) held Lesoso regional conference in Mahalapye over the weekend.
When welcoming the members of UCCSA at the main kgotla, Kgosi Duncan Segotso thanked Lesoso region to have thronged the Mahalapye kgotla, adding that churches played a vital role in the upbringing of peace, among the people.
He said churches helped government in moulding children so that they could behave themselves in accordance with the accepted behaviour of the society.
Kgosi Segotso the UCCSA members for praying for the rain, saying their prayers had been answered as Mahalapye region was experiencing high rains since last month.
In an interview, Mr Simon Rapinyana, who is a chairman for Lesoso region said the conference that ran from January 31 to February 2 was an elective conference whereby a new chairman, secretary and treasurer were elected for the year 2014/2015.
Mr Rapinyana further said during the conference, reports of annual activities from local churches were presented. As a way of showing love, Lesoso region donated food hampers to a Mahalapye resident. ENDS
