Police to crack down on illegal transporters
05 Feb 2014
Police divisional commander south, Mr Oreeditse Mautle has urged Good Hope police to crack down on illegal transport business in the sub-district.
Mr Mautle was responding to complaints from some licenced transporters during a kgotla meeting that was addressed by President Lt Gen. Seretse Khama Ian Khama in Mokatako recently.
He said the illegal operators who were reported to be using private vehicles were driving licensed operators out of business thus should face the wrath of the law.
Mr Mautle promised to follow the matter up to ensure compliance with the law. Meanwhile, transport and communications minister, Nonofo Molefhi who had accompanied President Khama, said he would send a delegation to establish why transport operators were not using the Good Hope bus rank.
The minister also threatened to revoke the permits of operators who were not using the rank. Ends
