The Minister of Minerals, Energy and Water Resources (MMEWR), Mr Kitso Mokaila has officially handed over a stand pipe to Ms Motabaseo Jameson of Flowertown ward in Mahalapye.

Speaking during a handover ceremony, Mr Mokaila said it was their responsibility to see that all had access to clean water. He further encouraged other departments to extend their helping hand to members of the community as a way of showing their corporate social responsibility.

Ms Jameson, who shed tears of joy during the ceremony, was identified through the help of Mahalapye sub-council. She was grateful for the donation and thanked Water Utilities Corporation for installing a standpipe in her homestead. Mr Mokaila further pleaded with Ms Jameson to take a good care of the standpipe and to make sure that children did not play with it as every drop of water counted.

Meanwhile, the kgotla meeting that was to be addressed by Mr Mokaila at Mahalapye main kgotla on the same day was postponed due to the heavy rainfall. The meeting was meant to address the residents of Mahalapye about water shortage.  ENDS
