Ministry of Youth and Gender Affairs recently awarded 35 young business owners who completed a comprehensive training workshop funded by the Youth Development Fund programme.
Speaking at the award ceremony in Maun, Deputy District Commissioner, Mr Ramogapi Gaborekwe congratulated award recipients and encouraged them to keep on enduring all the hardships saying their hard work will eventually pay off.
“Remember, you are not alone in this journey, build networks, seek mentorships and collaborate with fellow entrepreneurs to learn from each other because together you will create a stronger and more vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem,” he said.
For her part, the ministry’s acting principal programmes officer, Ms Malebogo Moilwa said participants were equipped with essential skills in entrepreneurial mindset development, digital marketing, record keeping, financial management, human resource management, and customer care.
“Today, we celebrate not just the completion of a training programme, but the birth of a new generation of entrepreneurs who are poised to make a significant impact in our economy,” she said.
Community business representative from Chobe Safaris, Ms Resego Batsalelwang, reminded the entrepreneurs that entrepreneurship was about creating solutions for the communities and further implored them to use the little resources they had to reach new heights and opportunities.
“The knowledge and skills gained here will empower you to navigate the challenges of business ownership and seize opportunities in the marketplace,” said one participant, Mr Bose Bonda, owner of a local Film and Television company.
He further encouraged the 35 participants to expand their business market to outside Maun and even try the international market. ENDS
