Construction of Tutume Primary School has been budgeted at an estimated cost of P850 million.
Minister of Health, Dr Stephen Modise, when responding to a parliamentary question said the estimates included construction of 65 staff houses, external works, mechanical and electrical installations.
Dr Modise said construction of the hospital was scheduled to commence in the next financial year, subject to approval of the project memorandum by the Ministry of Finance.
He said the timeline was meant to cater for the tender publication and adjudication.
He said the commencement of the construction of the hospital was planned for implementation during the National Development Plan 11 but was carried forward to the Transitional National Development Plan (TNDP).
The project, he said was currently at stage four design, which entailed detailed construction drawings and renders the project ready to go on tender, subject to approval of the Project Memorundum that was submitted for appraisal beginning of December.
The minister acknowledged delays in implementation as consultants were appointed as early as 2019.
He said the project has had challenges, which some were exacerbated by COVID-19 pandemic.
Dr Modise was answering questions from Nkange MP, Mothaleemang Moalosi, who had asked the minister to apprise Parliament on status of Tutume Primary Hospital that was budgeted for under TNDP. He also asked as to when construction would commence, including the budget for the envisaged hospital. Ends
