Ngwaketse Land Board reflects on successes challenges

Ngwaketse Land Board is committed to rendering quality service to its customers in the coming year.
Board chairperson Mr Bobby Tlhabiwe said on Monday at the organisation’s board meeting that they anticipate continued collaboration, improved service delivery and an overall commitment to excellence in the coming year.
“We are here to serve the people of Ngwaketse and beyond, and it is our duty to ensure that we fulfill this mission with integrity and dedication,” he said.
Deliberating on the challenges faced by the organisation over the ending year, Mr Tlhabiwe mentioned financial challenges, understaffing and failure by customers to pay lease fees and develop their plots on time.
He expressed concerns over staffing shortages, particularly in the legal department, and stressed the need for immediate action to fill vacancies.
He pointed out that the lack of resources led to reliance on private attorneys, which further strained the land board’s budget.
Regarding staff morale, he encouraged managers to foster a positive and conducive work atmosphere, emphasising the importance of leadership in creating a workplace where employees felt valued and motivated.
Despite the hurdles, Mr Tlhabiwe said the land board managed to achieve significant milestones, including the successful allocation of plots and resolution of land disputes.
However, the board leader encouraged sub-land boards under Ngwaketse Land Board to continue their efforts to resolve pending cases to ensure up-to-date lists of disputes, and to facilitate efficient land distribution.
Board secretary of Ngwaketse Land Board Mr Godiramang Moepeng said it was important for customers to uphold their end of the bargain by developing their plots on time and also paying lease fees as expected, adding that the land board should not shy away from acting accordingly when that did not happen.
