Ministry acknowledges delay for Thune Dam projects

The Ministry of Water and Human Settlement has acknowledged delays in the execution of two remaining projects for Thune Dam and Associated Pipelines, Contract 3B targeting Lepokole, Gobojango, Semolale, and Mabolwe, and Contract 3C projects targeting Motlhabaneng, mainly due to lack of funds to implement the contacts.
Responding to a question in Parliament, Minister of Water and Human Settlement, Mr Onneetse Ramogapi said the ministry’s intention to implement the aforementioned projects during the 2023/2024 and 2024/2025 financial years also failed owing to budgetary constrainS.
“The ministry will therefore, not be in a position to implement any of the new projects for the remainder the financial year, inclusive of Thune Dam and Associated Pipelines contracts 3B and 3C projects due to the current cash flow challenges,” Minister Ramogapi said.
Bobirwa legislator, Mr Taolo Lucas had asked the Minister to appraise Parliament on the project that was intended to draw and reticulate water from Thune Dam to Lepokole, Gobojango, Semolale, Mabolwe and Motlhabaneng villages. Ends
