New President pledges to serve nation

President Advocate Duma Boko has pledged and submitted to serving the nation.
“I am your servant and you are my principals. I submit to you and pledge to do your will. I will offend you, sometimes fail you. When I falter do not be surprised and be harsh on me. Be understanding, guide and counsel me.
I humble myself and submit before you. I beg that you continue to indulge with me, in case I falter while serving you. I am grateful for the honour you have bestowed on me,” said President Boko when making his first public appearance at Arukah House of Restoration Church in Gaborone yesterday.
President Boko said his assumption of the presidency was guided by prayers from the church and the nation at large. He said through prayer, the nation had pleaded to God to make change and their prayers were answered.
Adv. Boko said his journey to the country’s highest office encountered challenges and at times failing to get answers for his obstacles. However, he said God was always there to intervene and provide guidance.
“I do encounter challenges; a lot has hurt me to an extent that at times I responded in a way that hurt others.
I apologise for all of that. At the end, I acknowledge that God is in charge,” he said.
“I am a man of unwavering faith and my faith is constructed in love,” he said appealing to the nation to also have faith in God.
President Boko said being a President was not a result of his intelligence or any special reason, but he was elevated to the presidency by the people.
Welcoming President Boko to the church, Pastor Mmoloki Mogokgwane said of the President, “Today is very emotional because I have seen him being broken by many things surrounding him. His journey has never been easy. He is a man highly favoured by God.”
“I have walked with President Boko and we have endured pain and suffering in our lives. God has brought you this far,” said Pastor Mogokgwane.
Pastor Mogokgwane said President Boko and First Lady Kaone Boko had been through many storms in life.
He said the First Lady was a member of the church and, therefore, President Boko frequently visited the congregation, adding, ‘I have been his spiritual guide’.
“I know many noble men who deserve to be President. According to human standards, he does not qualify to assume such a high office because he is a frail man with many mistakes. Look at what the grace of God has done for Boko,” he said.
Pastor Mogokgwane said President Boko was being celebrated by the whole nation and had in the past been ridiculed and rejected. He said after losing the 2019 general elections, Adv. Boko was crushed as many had disappointed him.
However, he said since he was a man full of humility, God elevated him.
“As a public figure God humbled you in a special way and in full view of the public,” he said.
He said President Boko’s political journey was a narrative of faith, obedience and God’s power.
“Boko is a man of faith and has gone across the country mobilising an army that has put him to where he is today.”
Turning to the President he said, “I have suffered because of my association with you. I will continue to serve you and the nation.”
Meanwhile, Tshiamo Mogokgwane, the pastor’s daughter has described President Boko as an ordinary man who had been her uncle, a friend to her parents and an advocate of note.
As a first time voter at last week’s general elections, Ms Mogokgwane is proud that her vote had delivered a first change in government after 58 of attaining independence.
“As you proceed with your journey, God will continue to give guidance that you will need as you lead. You are human and bound to make mistakes. We are proud of you as a church and indeed as a nation.
I cannot wait for the good that God has placed in your heart to serve the people. Let your genuine love guide your journey,” she said. ENDS
