Botswana Stock Exchange (BSE) is the winner of the prestigious Leading Innovators in African Capital Markets 2024 awards.

An award statement from Boston research and media  says the recognition is given by the Global Brand Frontier Awards and sponsored by Boston Brand Research and Media, a global publications company based in Massachusetts, USA.

It further explains that the award is in the category of banking and finance. 

“The award is a testament to the BSE’s outstanding leadership and commitment to innovation in capital markets across Africa,” says the statement.

The statement also notes that BSE’s dedication to enhancing market transparency, technological advancements and sustainable practices has set a benchmark for others to follow.

It continued to say after a rigorous evaluation process, BSE emerged the deserving winner.

Commenting on the award, acting CEO, Mr Kopano Bolokwe said it was an honour to receive the recognition from their frontier markets counterparts. 

He said it showed the culture of excellence within their team and the stewardship of the board in ensuring that they gained new grounds and stayed globally competitive. 

“It will go a long way in improving our international visibility and showcasing the credentials of Botswana and of our market as a go-to investment destination,” he said

The judging panel, which evaluated nominees on impact, innovation and overall significance of their initiatives, said the BSE’s launch of the sustainability disclosure guidance had positioned them as a regional leader in providing listed companies with tools to enhance transparency and align with global sustainability standards.

The panel also said the guidance, along with BSE’s strategic partnership with Risk Insights, was transforming Botswana’s capital markets into a hub for sustainable finance. 

It added that the Artificial Intelligence powered platforms introduced through the partnership, provided ESG ratings and analytics that could be transformative for businesses and investors. ENDS
