UDC unveils three prospective parliamentary

Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) leader, Advocate Duma Boko has unveiled three prospective parliamentary candidates in Maun during a mega launch on Sunday.
Mr Kebareeditse Ntsogotho for the newly established Maun North constituency, Mr Tiego Mpho for Maun West and Mr Baraedi Lekabe for Maun East constituencies and were launched together with their prospective council candidates.
Speaking during the launch, UDC leader appealed to voters to exercise their right by voting all UDC representatives on the 30th October saying by doing so, their fundamental human rights would be secured.
Voters, he said had the right to decent life which entailed the right to quality livelihoods, noting that currently they were denied that right by the ruling party, hence pleaded with Batswana to trust UDC with state power because it was committed to bring change and ensure they enjoy decent living.
UDC, he said respected human rights and intended to better their lives and urged voters to give the party a chance by voting it into power next month.
Whenever government undertakes infrastructure development or projects, Advocate Boko said the public should understand that it was not a favour, but a government responsibility to do so because their livelihoods needed to be assured.
UDC, he said fielded brave and fearless leaders who were up to the challenge together with their council candidates and urged voters to rally behind them.
“Once Batswana trust UDC with state power, our mandate is very clear that we will ensure that people’s lives are improved through better wages and job creation. We promise to increase pension for elders to P1 800 and introduced a minimum of P4 000 living wage,” added Advocate Boko.
Time, he said had come for Batswana to shun the ruling party because it had failed to deliver on its promises and instead they should vote people ready bring change.
He informed the gathering that UDC had fought to ensure Batswana access electronic voters roll citing that initially, Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) refused to avail it.
UDC vice president, Mr Ndaba Gaolathe said UDC will impact positively on the lives of Batswana if given power, citing that the ruling party failed Batswana as it collapsed the economy.
Currently, he said the ruling party destroyed Botswana Meat Commission, infrastructure development, adding also that schools, health facilities were in a bad state.
Botswana he said was well known for good wealth, but today her economic landscape was gradually declining, adding that the country used to attract investors, but that was not the case anymore.
“This country needs strong, visionary and patriotic leaders who can build it to ensure the nation lead dignified lives. In the past, our visionary forefathers built a solid foundation for the development of our country and as UDC we are determined to carry on the button and bring change for the betterment of our nation,” he added.
Mr Gaolathe further said UDC through its visionary leadership was committed to transform the country and grow the economy once in power and called on Batswana to vote for their party which he said had their interest at heart.
UDC prospective parliamentary candidates accepted to represent their voters and promised to do their best to meet their aspirations.
Mr Ntsogotho is contesting the parliamentary seat against Botswana Congress Party’s (BCP) president, Mr Dumelang Saleshando and Botswana Democratic Party’s (BDP) Prophet Thato Elias.
In Maun East constituency, Mr Lekabe would lock horns with Mr Goretetse Kekgongile of BCP and BDP’s Mr Oateng Setlhodi while in Maun West, Mr Mpho would face BCP’s Mr Caterpillar Hikuama and Mr Thato Kwerepe of BDP respectively. Ends
