Semen tapping from imported bulls ongoing

The Minister of Agriculture, Mr Fidelis Molao has confirmed to farmers that the artificial insemination (AI) laboratory at Ramatlabama has started tapping semen from some of the bulls that were procured from the United States.
Speaking at the two-day Botswana Livestock Breeders Conference in Gaborone on Wednesday, Mr Fidelis Molao said 20 of the bulls have already in a space of two and a half months produced in excess of 40 000 straws of semen.
Mr Molao also confirmed that the Impala Training Centre was engaged in the second batch of training for AI technicians. He said the first batch has already graduated. He said such training will be extended to other areas such as Nxaraga and Mahalapye Rural Training Centre. Ends
