BCP launches Mutheto in Tati West

Tati West constituents have been urged to elect Botswana Congress Party (BCP) prospective parliamentary candidate, Mr Leonard Mutheto and his councillors in the upcoming general elections billed for October 30th.
Speaking during Mr Mutheto’s launch on Saturday, BCP deputy leader, Mr Taolo Lucas, voiced concerns regarding the Botswana Democratic Party’s (BDP) handling of the economy.
He said that BCP desired to seize control and manage key sectors, including agricultural and health industries, under the proposed BCP programmes.
Mr Lucas criticised BDP for what he described as failure to deliver promises to Batswana.
He urged electorate to reconsider their choices in the upcoming elections, advising them against voting for the ruling party.
“The country’s unemployment rate has increased, having risen from 19 to 26 per cent," expressing concern over implications of such an increase on the economy and the livelihoods of citizens.
Mr Lucas said BCP was determined to create an economy that included every Motswana.
He also highlighted shortage of drugs as a concern.
Also, Mr Lucas noted that some bookings for doctors appointment were scheduled dates beyond 2025.
BCP Parliamentary candidate for Tati East Mr Tlhabologo Furniture said the party was looking forward to leaders who would run all party programmes effectively. He noted that the BDP has failed to erect a border fence that runs from Mabolwe to Maitengwe amid the outbreak of Foot and Mouth Disease and cattle theft.
Mr Furniture said there was need for development in Masunga and Tati West need infrastructural.
For her part, the BCP gender activist and Secretary for Labour Affairs, Ms Daisy Bathusi, said that the BCP came up with a manifesto that other parties including the BDP were benchmarking from, noting that the BCP was the pacesetter.
In reference to women, Ms Bathusi said the BDP had neglected children’s care saying over 60 per cent of families lived below poverty datum line.
She said BCP proposed programmes focused on empowering women..
BCP youth Mr June June, urged voters to take Mr Mutheto to Parliament come October 30.
In respect to the level of education in the country, Mr June said 50 per cent of students failed Junior Certificate while 75 per cent failed Form Five every year.
He told the electorate that the BCP promised a minimum wage of P4 000 and P300 to every child living in poverty stricken families. Ends
