Mophato Dance brings the diamond story

Following the release of Pula, The Musical, that proved to be a winner, Kreative Kola Koncept Production Company is due to stage another Mophato Dance Theatre original show piece.
“Teemane, Our Diamond Story” is an inspiring story told in song and dance by a 30-member youthful cast of Mophato Dance Theatre to be showcased at Mantlwaneng Little Theatre on September 19-21.
Written and directed by Andrew Kola and produced by Kabelo Rapinyana with Pesalema Motshodi as musical director, “Teemane, Our Diamond Story” is a play that tells the story of Batswana and their relation to the diamond.
The play brings to life, the journey of Botswana and its diamonds, celebrating the deep connection between Batswana and the earth that holds its treasures.
“Our story, our heritage and our future are all intertwined with these precious gems from our soil,” Mophato Dance Theatre general manager and administrator, Hope Moumakwa told BOPA.
He said diamonds connect to the spirituality of Batswana, explaining that a person originates from the soil and through this play they are demonstrating that with diamonds which come from the soil, “we do not have diamonds, we are the diamonds”.
Moumakwa said the play was in traditional and fusion dance, adding that contemporary dance part of the play will focus on the aspects of mining development in the country.
Tickets for the show are sold for P200 across and corporate tickets are P5 000 for 10 people. Ends
