Kosmas Mamaloukos of Kalahari EX-Motor Sport sponsored by Bokomo has won the overall 200 km off-road motorbike race in 2 hours 36 minutes.

He won a trophy, cow and a heifer, Euan Harmse who clocked 2 hours 42 minutes came second winning a trophy and a goat while Boineelo Rantao came third with 2 hours 25 minutes also winning a trophy and a goat.

Spectators and motorbike riders thronged Fankie Kokoro’s feedlot and campsites near Paje to enjoy the two day display by best riders in this year’s race.

The race, organised by owner and director of Fankie Kokoro’s feedlot in partnership with Botswana Motor Sport (BMS), kicked off from Paje to Serowe and back to Paje.

It attracted both two wheelers and quads from all corners of Botswana including Jwaneng, Orapa and Maun.

The annual motorsport event, in its second year running is also a partnership between Serowe Extreme Bikers Club and BMS.

Kokoro told BOPA that this year’s challenge was bigger and better since it roped in riders across the country and South Africa.

He said everything was well organised and entries for participation was satisfactory compared to last year.

Kokoro said various stalls for agricultural products and cattle breeds viewing were setup, adding that Thuo-Letlotlo and Temo-Letlotlo stalls were also assisting on how to access programmes.

He said this year’s marshals were the out-of-school youth, reached through the help of the Sport Volunteer Movement.

The event, he added, was their effort to respond to the community social responsibility call.

“Local fuel stations, accommodation facilities, food vendors among others stand to benefited from this event. The race is the first of its kind in central district, purposely to bring riders in the region together and also afford the youth an alternative form of entertainment instead of indulging in social ills during their spare time,” he said.

He said the objective of the race was to encourage riders to engage in livestock farming, hence he sponsored riders with cows and goats.

Kokoro encouraged the youth to take up government programmes to uplift their lives, saying farming had many opportunities.

He said agro-tourism was the best in businesses in Botswana. Ends
