Kgafela commends wholesale efforts

The Minister of Trade and Industry, Honourable Mmusi Kgafela, has commended Toppers Cash and Carry for assisting government in fighting unemployment. 

Officially opening the 18th Toppers Cash & Carry shop opening by Classic Sales (Pty) Ltd in Block 8 in Francistown on August 28, Minister Kgafela said the company currently employs over 300 staff members across the country thereby contributing to job creation in the country.

 “Other indirect jobs will spring out due to this development, which is a boost to our economy,” he said. 

The Minister said the business is also committed to supporting local businesses by sourcing products from local farmers and manufacturers. 

“They have local products such as Sesigo Maize Meal, Marupantse Mabele, bulbs from Bulb World Supplier, Bloom Pads just to mention but a few. Their dedication to local procurement underscores our role in fostering community growth and economic development,” he added. 

Minister Kgafela encouraged producers/manufacturers to pay courtesy to the management concerning their produce. 

He said Toppers Cash & Carry store brand has grown in leaps and bounds since its establishment in 1996, launching stores under the brands, Saverite and Toppers Cash & Carry. 

“The expansion of Classic Sales (Pty) Ltd across the country is a clear sign of the company’s determination to bring developments and services to Batswana at large. Today there is development, landscape and economical change in the City of Francistown due to this initiative,” said Minister Kgafela. 

He said the opening of the Francistown store means that people of Block 8 will start enjoying services that Toppers Cash & Carry offers to other Batswana across the country. 

“The products on offer vary from groceries, financial electronic services like Orange Money and electricity purchase to mention but a few,” he said. 

He also commended Classic Sale (Pty) Ltd for assisting the owners of the land to develop their plot from a small business to a medium sustainable business whose benefit is for all. 

Minister Kgafela also thanked Toppers Cash & Carry management to have seen if fit to donate food hampers to the needy residents of Block 8 during its grand opening. 

Giving a vote of thanks, the Mayor of Francistown, Mr Godisang Radisigo, appealed to residents of Block 8 to stand against crime in the area. 

He said very soon, there would be some reports that some criminals have broken into the shop. 

To the employees, he appealed to them to desist from criminal activities and serve clients with a smile. 

Meanwhile, the general manager of Classic Sales (PTY) Ltd, Ms California Selebatso explained that the first store was in Mmadinare and the expansion, which began in 2012, has since extended to various places including Selebi Phikwe, Sefhope, Bobonong, Tsetsebjwe, Mogapi, Mogapinyana, Maunatlala, Lerala, Ratholo, Tumasera, Ramokgonami, Sefhare, Kudumatse, with Francistown being the latest.
