ABM apologises to former students

ABM University College has apologised to its former students for the late issuance of graduation certificates.
The university issued the apology after students raised complaints that they had not been given their certificates after graduating in November 2013.
ABM University College assistant executive director, Mr Bosele Radipotsane said the delays were due to some technical problems at their printers in Namibia. “We wanted a top notch printing company that could enhance security features on the certificates to avoid forgery,” he said.
He assured students that the certificates would arrive soon. Over 400 ABM students who had studied courses that included Secretarial Studies, Human Resource Management (HRM) and Marketing had accused the university of saddling them with examination transcripts and failing to issue them with certificates.
“We were disadvantaged because we could not be considered for promotion on the basis of examination transcripts,” they said.
Ms Margaret Phadi, who is also a graduate of ABM University, said she could not further her studies because the university delayed in delivering the certificates. However, the head of marketing and communication at the Human Resource Development Council (HRDC), Mrs Faith Tuelo said her institution had never received any formal complaint about the matter from students.
She noted that it was an offence for an institution to fail to issue certificates to graduates. ENDS
