All eyes on swimming stars

Botswana swimmers, Andrian Robison and Maxine Egner will kick start their Paris 2024 Olympic Games competitions on Saturday, while track and field athletes will take to track from August 1.
Robinson will compete in 100m breast stroke and Egner in 100m freestyle.
The two qualified for the Olympics through wild cards.
Meanwhile, Team Botswana chef de mission, Oreeditse Marakakgoro said in an interview that the team was in good spirits and ready to represent the country in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
She said in an interview that morale in camp was high and that athletes were united and calm after intensive training camp. She said their camp at Montauban was productive because the city was quiet and that gave the athletes the opportunity to focus on their preparations without distractions.
Furthermore, she said their training facilities were top notch, adding that the technical team was also impressed that athletics were improving their times.
The team, which has been camping in Moutauban will move to the athletes’ village in Paris in preparation for the Olympic Games opening ceremony tomorrow. The Games, which starts tomorrow end on August 10. Meanwhile, Team Botswana assistant coach, Kebonyemodisa Mosimanyane said he was happy with Bayapo Ndori and Letsile Tebogo’s performance at the London Diamond League held recently.
Tebogo finished third with a National Record of 9.88 while Ndori finished seventh with with 45.03. The two joined the rest of the team late as they were still in other competitions.
“We were not looking at winning the races, our focus was to see the shape of the athletes and to go to the Olympics without any injuries,” he said. BOPA
