Team Botswana is in Paris to compete at the 2024 Summer Olympics that will start July 26 and end August 11.
The team’s head coach, Chilume Ntshwarang told BOPA that he was leading a formidable side that understood the task ahead.
“In my own assessment I think they are all looking forward to the games,” said Ntshwarang and added that they were in good shape and quite confident.
Their physiotherapist, Clement Gaothuse said so far there were no injuries in the camp except some complaints of minor fatigue from training.
“There is nothing drastic that people should be worried about,” said Gaothuse.
He said he was happy that before the Olympics, they would be in camp at Montauban in France and that would give athletes enough time to acclimatize and get ready for the games.
Asked if he had done extensive assessment on the athlete’s injuries, he said the good thing was that they just returned from the African Senior Championships in Cameroon and it gave them a good idea of the athlete’s injuries.
“Because it was a competition no athletes could hide or mask so, we are quite certain that we are caring a fully fit team,” he said.
Meanwhile, Team Botswana manager, Oabona Theetso said they arrived on Friday and wre all in good health.
He said the athletics team started training on Saturday and were looking forward to participate.
Theetso said all the athletes were in camp except for Letsile Tebogo and Bayapo Ndori who would be competing at the London Diamond league before joining the rest of the team.
He said they were also expecting the two simmers, Maxine Egner and Adrian Robinson to join the team at their camp. Ends
