04 Jul 2024
The launch of a new flight route between Maun and Windhoek is testament to the partnership between Botswana, Namibia and other stakeholders.
The observation was made by Botswana Tourism Organisation (BTO) official, Mr Thatayaone Mmapatsi at the inaugural landing of Fly Namibia at Maun Airport on Wednesday. He said the flight demonstrated what could be achieved when different stakeholders worked together towards a common goal. He commended Fly Namibia for showing confidence in Maun as a destination of choice and for their partnership in advancing shared objectives.
He said the new route would not only strengthen ties between the two neighbouring countries, but would also create more opportunities for tourism, trade and cultural exchanges.
Mr Mmapatsi pointed out that the collaboration with Fly Namibia extended beyond the new route to include combining resources and marketing efforts to attract more tourists, and to showcase the best that Botswana and Namibia had to offer.
He said through promotion of tourism they were creating employment opportunities, fostering entrepreneurship and supporting local businesses.
“Our country is a land of unparalleled beauty and biodiversity and it offers a tapestry of experiences that captivate the soul,” he said.
Mr Mmapatsi explained that Botswana was committed to sustainable tourism practices, preserving the environment and protecting wildlife for the benefit of future generations.ENDS
