Insure homes businesses
31 Dec 2013
In light of the ever-changing climatic conditions, Batswana have been advised to insure their homes and businesses against natural disasters.
Mr Maeletso Pego of the National Disaster Management Office recently made the call at Kgomokasitwa in the Southern District after a storm swept through the village, leaving about 40 houses in tatters and some residents injured by falling rubble.
Mr Pego said insuring their homes and businesses would afford them the necessary compensation in the event they were hit by natural disasters such lightning, storms and floods.
He explained that the National Disaster Management Office could only offer disaster victims temporary relief to help them get back to their feet while an insurance company would give them enough compensation to rebuild their houses. ENDS
