Kgosi Albert Mositwane of Magoriapitse in the Ngwaketse area has described the annual Thompson four-team soccer tournament as a blessing for residents.

Speaking in an interview on December 29, Kgosi Mositwane said the tournament, which was on its third edition kept the youth busy, thus diverting them from delinquent activities such as alcohol and drug abuse.

He said the tournament also helped unearth undiscovered talent in the village and thanked the annual sponsor, William 'Tiger' Thompson for the initiative.

For his part Thompson, a professional soccer coach based in South Africa, reiterated that the object of the tournament was to keep the youth away from crime through sports. With the tournament he said he also wanted to mould players who would one day join premier league teams and represent the village.

The tournament was won for the third time in a row by Royal Leopards FC. The second prize went to Shibobo FC, while Morotwane FC and Matshubanaga got third and fourth positions respectively. ENDS
