MASEGO tourney attracts more spectators

Chairman of MASEGO Christmas football tournament has attributed the competition's improvement to the constituency league.

Wonder Mosebola said in an interview on December 25 that the competition, which had drawn nine teams from three villages of Mabolwe, Semolale and Gobojango known as MASEGO was tough as compared to the previous years.

Constituency tournament and arts competitions were run by the ministry of Youth Sport and Culture. He said during the previous years, some teams were mocked as underdogs but the situation had since changed because constituency tournament helped some teams to improve.

Mosebola said players were now fit and thi made this year games to be interesting and pulled a large crowd. "We are happy about the turnout also and this indicates that that the games have grown to a stage where many people are interested to watch them", he said.

The money from the gate takings, he said, would also assist teams to get a larger share of the prizes. The chairman also stated that Motor Vehicle and Accident Fund (MVA) had sponsored the tournament with P21 886 and all teams would be awarded the prize money. MVA  also donated 300 t-shirts for the spectators.

Participating teams were Brazil and Young Stars of Mabolwe, Bush Buffaloes, Soccer, Highlanders and Power Rangers of Semolale, African Sweepers and Sea Robbers le Seven Stars of Gobojango and the top four finishers will get a larger share of the prize money.

The finals will be held on New Year’s day and Bobirwa MP, Shaw Kgathi would be expected to award prizes. ENDS
