The 2014 edition of the Kabelano Charity Football Tournament has been scheduled for the National Stadium on July 26 next year.

Kabelano Trust Fund president, Terrence Dambe revealed in an interview that the fund has already made the booking with the National stadium management who have confirmed in writing. Thus he remained optimistic that the tournament would be staged without failure.

Dambe indicated that next year’s tournament would feature the three teams they are contracted to being, Mochudi Center Chiefs, Extension Gunners andTownship Rollers. The fourth team is yet to be announced. “The Trust has a three year contract with Chiefs, Gunners and Rollers which commenced this year… we are certain of their participation and there is currently no criteria applied to select the fourth team.

We will discuss the appointment of the forth team internally,” explained Dambe. He stated the trust was working around the clock to come up with creative measures that would ensure the tournament’s success as that would enhance the livelihoods of the needy and less privileged members of the community.

He said the main fundraising event for the organisation was the annual Kabelano charity spectacular and therefore highlighted the importance of making it a success as that would translate to more donations forthe needy.

After a hiatus of four years as a result of lack of suitable stadia, following the closure of the National Stadium for renovation in 2008, the event made a comeback this year on August 17 at Lobatse stadium. Mochudi Center Chiefs were crowed the tournaments champions for the fourth time since its inception back in 1996.

Dambe further declared this year’s tournament a success considering the fact the event was held in the middle of the month and in an unusual venue. .

He said it was evident that the event boosted Lobatse economically The Kabelano charity Cup is a one day pre-season tournament with the proceedings going to charity. ENDS
