ERB reports successful forum

14 Apr 2024

Sponsored at the tune of about P770 000 Engineering Registration Board (ERB) has reported a successful delivery of the fourth Engineering Forum held in Gaborone  last month.

For this year’s forum the organizing committee had planned for 300 participants, however, the event witnessed unprecedented multitudes exceeding the target by more than 200 delegates earning sponsors great mileage.

Speaking during a breakfast meeting in Gaborone Thursday, ERB Standards Manager, Ms Clare Mosarwa said the forum was a success thanks to the sponsors who raised a cumulative P526 000 in cash and P244 000 in kind towards provision of other important services.

She said this year’s forum was packed with speakers who brought impact through availing information and offering mentorship and trainings, thus enhancing the quality and relevance of engineers in Botswana.

She said unlike the COVID-19 period, the forum saw a great number of engineers and delegates gathered under one roof in a three-day action and sharing insights on developmental agendas concerning the engineering fraternity.

Ms Mosarwa said this time around, they had breakaway rooms set for two days which hosted special seminars targeted at comprehensively discussing pertinent issues concerning engineering excellence and shaping the future.

She said for the first time the forum was attended by young people and women who equally made presentations addressing critical issues related to the quality of engineering locally.

Notably, Ms Mosarwa said next year’s event was proposed for March 5 to 7, with the engineering week planned to commence March 3, and would be delivered under the theme: From Imagination to Implementation: The Engineering Journey. ENDS
