Tlotlo Conference Centre in Gaborone will stage the finale of My Star Talent Show on May 8, an occasion the event director, Keabetswe Sesinyi, says would be unique this time around.

For the first time, the show’s adjudicators, including 2009 My Star winner 2009, Kitso Selato, showcased their talents last week, to guide contestants on performance expectations while renowned musician, Fifi Afrika, also a panelist, took to the stage last week.

In an interview with BOPA, Sesinyi a.k.a Master Dee, said he might also perform next week, just to demonstrate to the contestants how it is done. With only the top six contestants remaining, Sesinyi said the last three would vie for My Star title on Season 16.

He said the competition had been in existence for more than 16 years, providing a platform for aspiring participants to showcase their talent to a broader audience and for them to network with fellow musicians, mentors, and industry insiders.

Participants receive invaluable feedback and coaching from seasoned professionals during the show, and this enhances skills and performance techniques, Sesinyi said and added that participants gained fans and followers through exposure on Botswana Television and other platforms.

Reflecting on the impact of the My Star competition, Sesinyi cited success stories as ATI, Vusi Botshelo, and Motlha Mompe, among others who had flourished in the music industry since taking part in the show.

 The winner of My Star competition will pocket P100 000. My Star airs on Botswana Television every Sunday at 6 pm. ENDS
