The Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Ms Botlogile Tshireletso has applauded the Matimela Division under the Central District Council for donating a two- and -a -half house to Mr Gabasebake Baitshinyi aged 85.
During the donation ceremony in Gojwane recently, Ms Tshireletso said what Matimela Division did restored the recipient’s dignity.
She said such gestures were highly recognised by government as they contributed to government’s objective of eradicating abject poverty.
She also pointed out that what was demonstrated by the Matimela Division should be emulated by other organisations in the country to help uplift the lives of those who did not have a roof over their heads.
“I also acknowledge Gojwane Village Development Committee for erecting a fence around the beneficiary’s house and I also call upon them to come up with a way for each household in Gojwane to raise at least P5 on a monthly basis to assist Mr Baitshinyi,”she said.
She explained that the employees contributed towards the P25 000 project. She noted that the idea to construct the house came about during the rotational departmental meetings in the district.
She said employees under the division agreed to contribute money as a way of doing something for people in the communities they served. ENDS
