Chombo grateful for support

In a heartwarming display of community pride and support, residents of Maun on April 6 came together to welcome home their very own shining star, Lesego Chombo, who recently made headlines by clinching the prestigious title of Miss World Africa at the renowned Miss World competition.

Dressed in a stunning ensemble befitting her newfound title, Chombo stepped off the plane to a chorus of cheers and applause, her radiant smile lighting up the faces of all those gathered to greet her.

Speaking to the gathered crowd, Chombo expressed her gratitude for the overwhelming support she had received throughout her journey to the Miss World Africa crown.

She credited her success to the unwavering encouragement and belief of her hometown, emphasising the role they played in shaping her into the confident and empowered woman she was today.

“Le ntsamaetse batho ba Maun mme ebile ka kwa mafatsheng go itsewe lona eseng nna, ke sone ke le lebogang thata ka thotoetso ya lona,” she said.

In her remarks at the welcoming ceremony held at Maun Sports Complex, Kgosi Kealetile Moremi appreciated the hardwork and resilience portrayed by Chombo throughout her Miss World journey.

“We are very happy for the job well done and we wish you all the best in your current Genesis project that you have committed yourself to,” she said.

Maun East MP, Goretetse Kekgonegile also expressed his gratitude to the reigning queen as he highlighted her intense determination that served as an example to all the girls in the country.

Kgosi Tlotlang Dingalo of Shorobe appreciated the work that the recently crowned Miss World Africa had done and continued to do for the nation of Botswana.

He further encouraged her to continue conquering in this journey of Miss World Africa.

“As she embarks on the next chapter of her journey, Lesego Chombo carries with her the love and support of her home village, a beacon of hope and inspiration for generations to come,” he said.

Meanwhile, Chombo received gifts from Bank Gaborone in P5 000 savings account, a camp chair, a set of coffee mugs, sling bag, water bottle, a watch and P450 worth of airtime from the Ngamiland Organising Committee. ENDS
