Improve discipline to attract sponsors

18 Dec 2013

Francistown Regional Football Association (FRAFA) clubs have been urged to improve their commitment and to maintain discipline on and off the field for them to attract potential sponsors and keep those that have been helping them.

During a donation of 30 balls from World Group of Companies, the regional chairman of FRAFA, Jonas Ikgopoleng pointed out that there were many potential sponsors that could have assisted clubs but chose not due to teams, especially executive committee members, players and supporters’ bad behaviour.

That, he said had disadvantaged the region as a whole and other clubs which had worked hard to protect and earn respect. Thus, he appealed to club officials to put their houses in order to appeal to sponsors. Often times, he said teams across all the divisions struggle to secure technical sponsorships adding that a gesture from a stakeholder such as World Group Companies should be highly appreciated.

That, he said was an indication that even though they might not be full time sponsors, they saw the potential in local clubs. Issuing the balls on behalf of World Group of Companies, the managing director of Wheels Spare Motors, Faruk Sardar noted that they wanted to encourage and give the clubs support in an effort to bring results which would help them earn recognition to attract other sponsors.

Sardar further pledged five additional balls for clubs that would gain promotion from each division for the next two years, noting that they would also continue to give support in any form where possible as way of encouraging the growth of sport in the region.

Meanwhile, the region divided the 30 balls among six first division clubs, 12 division one and six division two teams respectively. The remaining six balls remained with the region to be used in all games. ENDS
