Hard work cooperation profitable

17 Dec 2013

Local authorities in the Southern District have been praised for hard work, consultation and cooperation they rendered this year in developments.

The praise was made by the Chairperson of the Southern District Council, Mr Leach Tlhomelang, during the chairman’s ball held at Tomela Chamber in Kanye on Thursday.

Mr Tlhomelang said he appreciated the efforts made by district administration, land board, council and tribal administration who worked tirelessly together developing the district. He said the team spirit and conducive environment picked their morale to develop the district.

‘’This year, council managed to construct Mongala Mall in Kanye, which is expected to start operating early next year, and the installation of traffic lights (robots)’’ he said. He further said they have also constructed an abattoir in Kanye where cattle are slaughtered and inspected.

He said without cooperation among councillors, they could have not succeeded. He encouraged them to keep that spirit, even after the general elections. All government departments were given a round of applause for the advice they gave to councillors during their term.

However, Tlhomelang encouraged councillors to disseminate information about government assistance programmes available. He said it is ploughing season, farmers should pull up their socks to produce enough food. ENDS
