17 Dec 2013
The National Strategy Office has donated Christmas presents to children of the Community Relieve Daycare Centre run by the Botswana Retired Nurses Association in Tlokweng.
Speaking during the donation handover on December 13, Director General of the National Strategy Office (NSO) Mr Uttum Corea said they were happy to celebrate and share Christmas with the children.
He said there will be no Christmas without children as they are a blessing from God hence they are privileged to be part of their lives today.
Mr Corea said at NSO they are determined to reach out to the community every month as a way of giving back to the world.
He added that they were giving to children so that they enjoy their Christmas and the gifts will go a long way in their memories.
The Director of the Daycare Centre, Ms Mavis Kewakae said the centre has been experiencing a lot of challenges recently more so that most donors have pulled out their funding.
She said this has left the school with serious financial constraints that hinder them from helping many children who need assistance in the community.
Ms Kewakae said good gestures like the gifts donation gives laughter to the kids and assist them as the centre as they did not have money to make a party for the children.
She further said the annual intake of the centre stands at 50 children despite the long list of those who need assistance.
Ms Kewakae expressed gratitude for the donation to children as the toys will be useful during playtime and the children will have a memorable Christmas celebration. ENDS
