Seakgosing commends health workers
16 Dec 2013
The Minister of Health, Dr John Seakgosing has encouraged health workers to keep providing quality health services to the nation and “affirm the spirit of being a team, a family united by common purpose to serve and give healthcare to Batswana.”
Delivering a Christmas message at the ministry’s headquarters in Gaborone on December 13, Dr Seakgosing further encouraged Batswana and health workers to be cautious throughout the festive period.
He urged health workers to rest and come back to work after the holidays relaxed, more vigorous and with more energy so as to continue giving health services to Batswana irrespective of one’s status. He pointed out that he was proud to be at the helm of Ministry of Health as they recently honoured and recognised 184 employees for their service to the nation.
Mr Gabolelekwe Tlogelang, coordinator of the Health Hub said they had encountered challenges and achievements in the ministry. He said they had managed to achieve a number of objectives as the latest statistics produced by the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning indicated that there was an improvement in the maternal mortality and life expectancy in Botswana.
That, he said signified that the ministry did a good job and should do more in 2014 to accomplish more objectives and milestones. In his address, Pastor Galeemelwe urged the youth to desist from alcohol and drug abuse, to shun all unbecoming behaviour and ensure that they took care of their bodies as the body of a person was the temple of God.
