Moswate haunts Tafic
16 Dec 2013
Former Tafic striker Obonye Moswate stunned his former club when he scored the only goal of the game to help Township Rollers secure a win away from home.
The lukewarm fixture was played at the Francistown Stadium on December 14 ensured that Rollers ended the first round games with just two points behind log leaders, BDF XI. Moswate scored the only goal on the 42nd minute after chaos in the Tafic defensive area which left goal minder, Abednico Morapedi exposed.
Though Rollers had an upper hand in controlling and winning of the ball in the middle of the park, their style of play in the encounter was not convincing as often they were caught off guard, giving their opponents enough space to launch attacks.
Playing as an attacking midfielder, Sekhana ‘Nandos’ Koko seemed to be inefficient unlike when he played in his usual role as a winger. His ball distribution to Motsholetsi Sikele and Jerome Louis was ineffective. Top striker, Louis was a shadow of himself as he allowed Tafic’s Otsile Batang to win all the balls that came his way.
Morapedi in Tafic goals was up to the challenge and denied Rollers more goals that could have scored, especially from Sikele’s corner kicks just before half time. Trailing behind by a goal, Tafic spotting their new Dlala kit and with their new head coach Darlington Dodo in the bench for the first since he took over a month ago, looked comfortable on the field and matched their counterparts who appeared under pressure to win the game.
Dodo who on most occasions was on his toes shouting instructions, said after the game that he was impressed with his players who despite a mistake which led to a goal managed to match Rollers players who are physically fit. “Despite the loss we are going to start our second round games with our morale high because of how we played against this tough side,” he said.
Rollers assistant head coach, Mogomotsi Mpote was full of praise for Tafic performance noting that though they won by a solitary goal, Tafic had a better game plan for them which their players had not anticipated. Nonetheless, he said they were happy with the results as they have reduced their difference with log leaders to just two points. ENDS
