Malatswae to access services at Paje
11 Mar 2024
District structures are currently in the process of consultations and preparation of files to transfer the service from Letlhakane Sub-land board to Paje Sub-land board, says Minister of Lands and Water Affairs, Dr Kefentse Mzwinila.
Answering a parliamentary question asked by MP for Serowe West, Mr Onalepelo Kedikilwe, Mr Mzwinila explained that the decision came about after Serowe District Council adopted a motion in June 2023, which requested his ministry to transfer Malatswae land board services from Letlhakane Sub-land Board, which fell under Boteti District to Paje under Serowe District. After engagement with the district to understand the reasons, he said his ministry in October 2023 acceded to the motion.
“I must indicate that my ministry was concerned that the community will be getting services afar as the distance from Malatswae to Paje was 130 km compared to Letlhakane which was 65 km,” he said.
Dr Mzwinila further explained that the district council and the office of the district commissioner were duly informed of the decision on October 27, 2023. Mr Kedikilwe had asked the minister if there were plans to relocate Malatswae from Boteti Sub-Land Board to Paje Sub-Land Board. ENDS
