BOTESSA hold qualifying event-preview

Obed Itani Chilume Stadium in Francistown is set to host a crucial qualification battle for the upcoming BOTESSA champions in Gaborone this April. This weekend's event on both Saturday and Sunday will not only showcase the athletic prowess of over 1,000 athletes from across Botswana but also serve as a launching pad for bigger national and international competitions.
With stakes high and a lot riding on the line, the competition is expected to be fierce as athletes vie for victory. Thabo Mothibi, the BOTESSA vice president (technical), highlighted that performers at this weekend event stood a chance to qualify for various prestigious competitions like the BOTESSA championships, CUCSA games, and other national and international events.
To ensure convenience for athletes from different regions in Botswana, participants from the south will compete on Saturday, while those from the north will take part on Sunday. This arrangement not only allows for a smooth and safe transition for athletes but also ensures a level playing field for all competitors.,
The event, which will attract 592 athletes from the south and 444 from the north,promises to be an exciting and enjoyable experience for all , with elite athletes like Tebogo Moepeng, Lone Madzimule, Tshepang Manyika, Thuto Masasa, Golekanye Chikane, and Motlatsi Rante expected to showcase their skills and aim for qualification to international events.
The weekend's competition is a significant step towards potential participation in events like the All Africa games and CUCSA games, setting the stage for athletes to shine on both national and global platforms.BOPA
