Table tennis selects junior teams

Following a well attended and highly contested selection tournament at the Baobab Primary School in Gaborone recently, the Botswana Table Tennis Association (BTTA) has announced the U-15 and U-19 boys and girls’ junior national teams. 

The national junior teams will represent the country at the Africa Youth Championships (July 15-21) and the Commonwealth Youth Championships (July 23-28).  

Both championships will be hosted by Botswana in Gaborone. 

The BTTA public relations officer, Tshegofatso Malepa said the U-15 girls’ team, which would be coached by Boitshwarelo Butale, was made up of Gabriella Tsiaka, Lilliana Tsiaka and Asante Motsamai from Maikano JSS and Kgotso Kootsere from Mabeleapudi Re Ba Bona Ha (RBBH) centre.  

The U-15 boys’ team, which will be under the tutelage of Godirileone Bagwasi, is made up of the quartet of Reneilwe Lekorwe of Smash Maniacs Table Tennis Club, Thato Kgongwana and Gofaone Dzvaka of Bontleng/Ithuteng and Kgotla Thebeyame of Mabeleapudi RBBH.

Malepa said the U-19 ladies’ team would be under the stewardship of Solly Tsiaka. 

The team comprises Masa Motlhabane of Maikano JSS, Boitlamo Nkele and Briannah Mogaladi, Tshegofatso Buisanang of Bontleng/Ithuteng and Charity Moleele. 

The U-19 boys, who will be coached by Joseph Kgatlampane, are Tebogelo Dipebe and Tebogo Kotopo from Mabeleapudi RBBH, Aobakwe Sebetela from Maikano JSS and Jason Dekop from Nhabe Table Tennis Club and Kgosi Kabelo. Ends
