Zambia delegation on benchmarking mission

A delegation from Zambia’s Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock is in Botswana on a benchmarking exercise. A press release from the Ministry of Agriculture says the team’s visit is to appreciate the legislative framework supporting the livestock industry, disease control intervention, livestock research and development and vaccine development and production.

The release further explains that the delegation will tour the Botswana Animal Information and Traceability System (BAITS) facilities, Botswana Meat Commission (BMC) in Lobatse and the Artificial Insemination Centre in Ramatlabama They will also engage with the Botswana National Beef Production Unit (BNBPU) and visit some farms in the Kgatleng District, says the release. The delegation of seven officials arrived on Sunday (February 18) and is led by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Ms Himba Cheelo. 

The benchmarking trip which commences on Tuesday (February 20) follows President Hakainde Hichilema’s working visit to Kasane last month. ENDS
