BDF recongises air arm certificate

Minister of Defence, Justice and Security, Mr Ramadeluka Seretse has informed Parliament that Air Arm Technician Certificate is recognized as according to the Botswana Defence Force (BDF) circular No. 56 of 2004.
Answering a question in Parliament Wednesday, December 11, he said for anyone to qualify as an aircraft technician, he/she has to first go through an 18 months technical course, on completion as mechanics they are entitled to draw a category allowance.He stated that, they then carry out a 12 months technical course to become technicians and on completion they are entitled to draw a category B allowance and 15 per cent skill allowance.
Mr Seretse said currently the BDF is working at reviewing the technical allowance to category A, the reason being that the course length and content is considered equivalent to a Diploma Level.MP for Francistown South, Mr Wynter Mmolotsi had wanted to know why Air Arm Technician Certificate is recognised and rewarded accordingly in the Police Service while the same does not apply in the army.
