12 Dec 2013
Minister of Transport and Communications Mr Nonofo Molefhi says he is aware that there is a problem of storm water drainages along some of the internal roads across the country.
Answering a question in parliament on Wednesday, December 11, Mr Molefhi said the roads however, are the responsibility of ministry of Local Government. He said when constructing primary roads, storm water drains are normally part of the road designs where the local terrain dictates so, but sometimes storm water drains are excluded from the road construction due to financial constraints.
“My ministry has and will continue to embark on rectifying these storm water drainages problems in all the affected areas as the economy improves,” Mr Molefhi assured the House.Minister Molefhi was answering a question by MP for South East South, Mr Odirile Motlhale who had asked him if he is aware of the problem of storm water drainage in most parts of the country which is caused by the exclusion of storm water drainage when constructing internal roads. He had also asked the minister if he was aware, what his ministry was doing about the problem.
