Church empowers youth
12 Dec 2013
The Faith Gospel After Christ church (FGAC) leadership has been praised for empowering the youth.
Speaking at the church’s national workshop themed, “Youth and Christianity,” the deputy chairperson of North West District council, Cllr Duncan Enga said the workshop provides for the development youth as future christian leaders.
Mr Enga said the theme was relevant because at this particular time christianity has become dynamic, complex and greatly challenged by the new technology, high unemployment, passion killings, cohabitation and prostitution amongst others.
He urged the youth to desist from cohabiting and intergenerational love affairs which he said contribute greatly to passion killings. However, he acknowledged that the increasing poverty levels and youth unemployment contribute to these love affairs. Cllr Enga also cautioned the youth against the worlds’ temptations in order to lead good lives.
For his part, FGAC youth chairperson, Mr Lebogang Nxoo said as the youth they were grateful for the opportunity granted to them and said they will take the responsibility to preach the gospel to the community.
He however decried the lack of resources to do all they want help in developing their community and serve other youths as a way to mould them into better people.
Cllr Enga pledged P5 000 to the church to help the youth continue with their commitment to serving the church and the youth. ENDS
