The fourth session of the Botswana-Zimbabwe Bi-National Commission (BNC) offers a platform for the two countries to exchange ideas and strengthen diplomatic relations.
Acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr Clifford Maribe, highlighted this during a welcome reception for delegates from Botswana and Zimbabwe in Maun on Tuesday evening.
Mr Maribe said Botswana and Zimbabwe have continued to enjoy excellent relations anchored on mutual respect and common vision of a people centred development.
“I wish to encourage all of you distinguished delegates to effectively utilise this setting to engage in open and candid conversations, exchange ideas and foster connections that will increase our diplomatic engagements and endeavours,” he said.
Mr Maribe said the reception was aimed at providing opportunity to further strengthen the bonds of friendship between the two countries through informal and relaxed interactions between officials of our two countries.
Ministers and senior officials from the two countries have convened in Maun for the week-long event which started on Monday and is set to come to an end on Friday.
The two countries have enjoyed a long history of diplomatic relations from as way back as 1983.
They agreed to established a Bi-National Commission in 2018 to promote and explore cooperation in various areas.
These areas include education, health, agriculture, defence and security, trade, energy and transport. Ends
