The Department of Civil and National Registration is currently accommodated at the Botswana Power Corporation offices in Shakawe.


The Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture, Mr Shaw Kgathi said there was currently no government data network connectivity in the building. 


Mr Kgathi further said the ministry was currently in the tendering process to source services for the provision of connectivity to the government data network for the Shakawe Civil and National Registration office.
He told Parliament that the system was expected to be functional by April 2014.


Okavango MP, Mr Bagalatia Arone had asked the Minister of Labour and Home Affairs when computers at the new Civil and National Registration office in Shakawe would be connected to the main information and communication technology infrastructure.
Mr Arone had said the connection would enable the printing of birth and death certificates in Shakawe instead of the current status whereby printing was done in Gumare. ENDS
