The annual budget for the Youth Development Fund (YDF) has been declining since the 2019/2020 financial year owing to the overall budget cuts in government, the Minister of Youth, Gender, Sport and Culture, Mr Tumiso Rakgare has told Parliament.

Mr Rakgare said for the financial year 2019/2020 through to 2021/22, each constituency was allocated P1 700 000 while in the financial years 2022/2023 and 2023/2024 each constituency was given P1 550 000.

He said all the approved projects were funded hence his ministry was not aware of projects which were approved but not funded.

He was responding to a question from Francistown West MP, Mr Ignatius Moswaane who had asked about the total budget allocated for YDF for each district versus the population of youth targeted by the programmes whose projects were approved in the previous years but never funded and will be funded.
