GU hold FC Satmos

09 Dec 2013

FC Satmos put up a top class performance to play to a one-all draw with Gaborone United in the beMOBILE premier league game at the Molepolole sports complex on Friday, December 6.

The Cheetahs, who have been playing a see-saw between the elite league and the first division for years, showed the magnitude of Moya goleele supporters why they had been having a good run since the league started. FC SATMOS out-played GU, especially in the midfield for the entire game and even to the appreciation of the GU supporters.

Qinani Sibanda controlled the proceedings in the middle of the park while Katlego Mpoeleng was having a field day on the left flank. It came as no surprise when FC Satmos nodded home the lead in the 24th minute through Troy Maziwisa after receiving a cross from the right flank from Tshepiso Kgosiemang.

After the goal, FC Satmos kept denying GU goal scoring opportunities until recess, but GU found an equaliser after defender, Gaopatwe “Shoes” Seosenyeng showed his front men how to convert when he got to the end of a long range free kick to level at 1-1. In the post-match interview, FC Satmos coach, Kgosietsile Jacob rightly pointed out that the score line did not reflect the overall game.

“My players put up a brave fight and we should have won this game have we not conceded that soft goal. It’s a bit harsh that we managed to repel all the dangerous balls only to concede a soft one like that,” he said. Jacob said his boys played according to instructions, but only that they were let down by poor finishing. “We have to learn to be sharper upfront and avoid missing the chances that we create."

We will have to work on sharpening up before our next game,” he said. Meanwhile, defending champions, Mochudi Centre Chiefs defeated visiting ECCO City Greens 3-0 at the Molepolole sports complex. ENDS
