Ministry continues to enhance security

15 Nov 2023

The Ministry of Defence and Security continues to enhance security along Botswana borders through Special Support Group base camps.

Answering a question in Parliament, Minister Mr Kagiso Mmusi said the intervention had proved successful in the Bobirwa, North East and some areas in the southern part of the country.

He said resources permitting, the intention was to replicate the intervention to other equally deserving areas, the Mamuno-Karakubis area inclusive.

Mr Mmusi said in the meantime, the Mamuno-Karakubis borderline stretch would continue to be patrolled by officers from Charleshill Police Station in collaboration with other Law Enforcement Agencies.

Member of Parliament for Ghanzi South Mr Motsamai Motsamai had asked the minister whether he would consider establishing a Special Support Group camp along the Botswana - Namibia border fence to reduce cross border incidents of crime pending the fixing of the Mamuno-Karakubis border. Ends
